The Cobourg Cougars are pleased to welcome our new General Manager, Ryan Ramsay and our new Head Coach, Derek Smith!
Ryan has spent the last 7 years as the GM and Head Coach of the Haliburton County Huskies and Whitby Fury. During his time with the Huskies, they saw playoff action each season. On the ice, Ryan signed an NHL contract with the St. Louis Blues and has played in the OHL, AHL, ECHL and 7 seasons in the German DEL 1 League.
Derek has spent the last 8 years as the Head Coach of the Trenton Golden Hawks and Wellington Dukes. During his time in the OJHL, Derek, has earned himself 2 Buckland Cups, 2 Silver Medals coaching Team Canada East in the WJAC and a Coach of the Year Award!
On the ice, Derek has played D1 Hockey in the NCAA, in the AHL, ECHL, NLA, KHL and an excellent career in the NHL with the Senators and Flames!
