The Cobourg Cougars are fortunate to have great Community Partners in the Lions Club of Cobourg. You will see the Lions Club present at every Cougars Home Game running the 50/50 booth and supporting their local club with Cougars Pride. Through this partnership funds raised go towards a few initiatives to support the club, being an annual Player Bursary that will be presented to a few players each season to support the financial barriers of playing hockey at this level. Along with this the Cougars and Lions have put these funds into action supporting capital costs to support the club with the 2022/23 funds going towards upgraded door wraps and signage within the dressing room and Coach’s room and a sound system enhancement for both in the rink and for road games.

“We are very fortunate to have great partners and supporters in the Lion’s Club of Cobourg” said Erika Seggie, Director of Business Operations. “We are excited to continue this partnership and recognize the great work they do at our upcoming home game on Monday Feb 5th this season. The support they provide our players through the Player Bursary program and the recent enhancements within the dressing room have been fantastic and we thank them for their contribution and continued support” said Seggie.

“The Lions Club of Cobourg is proud to support the players, the fan base that loves the community they represent and the bigger Cobourg community through the 50/50 program.  We know that the players appreciate the support, and we love being out in the community showing everyone that we give of our time, energy, and resources to meet our motto, which is “We Serve”.  We look forward to working together again this season, and to Feb 5th – Lions Night at the Rink, where we can showcase some of our other community efforts and hope that in the meantime everyone stops by to say hello and try their chances too!”  – said Randall Ross, President of the Lion’s Club of Cobourg.

Hockey is more then just a sport within Cobourg, it is about all that goes with it as well, one being great community partnerships like the Cougars has with the Lion’s Club and what they bring to our community.
